As aquamarines also suit jewelry designs that are retro in look, it is quite common to find aquamarine bracelets that are rendered in Art deco designs. These beautiful linked bracelets usually feature floral or natural designs along with other precious gemstones such as coral, garnets, citrines and pearls. Aquamarines are also available in quite large stones which is why they are set quite nicely in silver vintage style settings and in Edwardian era cocktail rings.
The stone also has an additional meaning that means “true blue” so more and more we are seeing them set into engagement rings along with diamonds. Aquamarines also look especially lovely when set with pearls, perhaps because both gemstones have a symbolic affinity with the sea.
Aquamarine earrings are flattering to all eye colors but especially blue-eyed individuals. Perhaps this accounts for why they are the stone of choice for many people who wear earrings. The fantastic possibilities for jewelry designs include glittering teardrops, paved hoops, hoops dripping a single gem and shiny studs.
The gemstones from this country tend to be large, more transparent, have magnificent color and contain the least flaws. Aquamarines that are of a lower quality, but more affordable could come from Madagascar, Mozambique, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Zambia. The darkest blue stones come from Brazil.
It is said that if you wear a piece of aqua marine jewelry that you are more connected to the light of the angels. This is particular true of the light blue aquamarines that can remind you of the sky on the clearest sunniest day. A selling point for an aquamarine might be to remind people that it is the stone of the Archangel Michael who protects people from all danger.
